Youth Connect WISE

WISE is the flagship program of Youth4Jobs developed in-house with an eye on the market and community. It is a unique model which focusses on rural youth with disabilities with less education. 30% of them are girls. The model leverages the decade long experience of the Founder-CEO in working in senior government positions, with multilateral funders like World Bank and UNDP. The first centre was set up in Hyderabad in 2012 as a template for scale. The training centres are located where India’s need is the most – Bimaru states like Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha and conflict-states like Northeast. This work is challenging but transformational. The vision is to set up satellite centres closer to the poor linking them to jobs, wherever possible, in the local economy.

WISE is a flexible market-linked training model tailored to the assessment levels of the PwDs. The training duration varies from 15 days to 2 months. All centres are residential and run free of cost. After a one week on-the job training, companies come to the centre to interview and recruit the youth for entry level jobs. Companies participate by giving guest lectures, co-creating modules, and hiring. Trainees are assessed and certified by the NSDC Sector Skill council.
